Valuation Services

Auction Appraisal

Our valuers are available either at our offices in Malton or by appointment in our client’s homes.

This service is generally free and without obligation, and we cover the whole of North and East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

We are pleased to arrange the sale of a single item, or the entire contents of a property, either on the client’s premises or in one of our three sale rooms.

Valuation days for specialist sales are held throughout the year at various locations.

Vendor Commission

Antique & Fine Art Sales – The Milton Rooms, Malton

Standard commission: 16.8 of the sale proceeds, with a minimum commission charge of £4.00 per lot plus VAT.

All lots are illustrated on our website at a charge of £3 per lot.

Loss & damage warranty is payable at 1% of the total plus VAT.

Auction Sales – The Auction Centre, Murton, York

Standard commission: 12.5% of the sale proceeds plus VAT.

Loss & damage warranty is payable at 1% of the total plus VAT.

General Sale – The Central Salesrooms, Pickering

Standard commission: 15% plus VAT

Lotting fee: £1 per lot plus VAT

Electrical items are subject to testing fees.

VAT IS PAYABLE ON ALL THE ABOVE

 

 

Our clients will be sent a catalogue for our antique sales a week before the auction with the lot numbers and estimates. Sale results will be sent out within 48 hours of the sale and are also available online. A cheque or BACS payment will be sent 14 days after the auction, together with a statement.

Insurance Valuations

Insurance companies have become increasingly concerned over settling claims without proof of value or ownership.

In the event of a loss, either by theft or fire, a detailed inventory and valuation with photographs will enable the loss adjustors and insurance company to settle matters quickly and efficiently.

This service can be tailored to meet individual requirements ranging from the valuation of selected items to a complete house contents.

Inheritance Tax

This involves the appraisal of effects to satisfy the requirements of probate law. As with insurance valuations, we prepare a detailed inventory and valuation, highlighting specific bequests and items of importance.

In the event of executors or beneficiaries wanting to dispose of items from the estate, then our auction rooms provide a complete service. This involves arranging for collection of the items, entering them in the appropriate sale and accounting to the executors after the auction.

Sale by Private Treaty

We will advise on the private sale of individual items or entire collections, and if required negotiate with the prospective purchasers on behalf of the vendors.

We have many years’ experience of providing written valuations for our clients. Our fees vary according to the work involved.
